Duane grew up working on the family ranch in Slater, CO and Dixon, WY with his family, his great uncle Jim, and his two brothers, Nelson and Steve Duncan. After high school, Duane worked in the oilfield off and on. Returning to the ranch full time to work alongside his two sons and family. Duane enjoyed gold panning, treasure hunting, picking on the grandkids, he loved reading and educating himself on many different things, and he had a strong addiction to thrift stores.
Duane met his best friend and life partner, Patty Weatherford, along his life’s journey and they were together over 35 years. Duane and Patty were blessed with the last 10 years together living at the upper ranch and in Dixon during the winters. Duane also shared a bond with Patty’s three boys Jay, Ryan, and Mike Smith and his late brother Steve’s two children Natalie and Braden Duncan. Duane loved working beside his sons and his grandkids.
