Michael Calvin Martindale

Tommy was the oldest, Deby (Merriam) in the middle and 11 months later followed Michael. He later became a big brother to Rhonda Kay and Tracy from his mother’s marriage to Ron Schlotman. He was born and raised a cowboy and loved spending as much time outdoors as possible, which South Routt made for a perfect fit. He met the love of his life Renee Hunter as young teens. Renee was 16 and Mike was 17 turning 18. He offered her a ride to a friend’s, and it led to a date at State Bridge and then a 55-year marriage. Many odds were against them, however Mike said that on their wedding he looked at the stained-glass picture of the Lord above him and knew they were going to make it. On February 7, 1971, they welcomed their precious girl. Patricia Lynn, with only a few short months with her, the Lord called her home on April 2, 1971. Forever missing their sweet Patty, they later welcomed Thomas Michael on December 29, 1972; followed by Anthony Walter on May 31, 1975, and then Michael Calvin II on February 12, 1981. Mike and Renee lived & raised their boys in South Routt, Mike working as a welder at the Edna mine for 7 years. He then went into his life’s passion of ranching and raising & breaking Quarter

Horses. Along with that Mike took great joy in his draft horse teams that he used to feed with in the winter. In the early 2000’s Mike started at the -A ranch in Toponas where he worked till retirement. Mike loved ranching and the lifestyle which he passed on to all the Martindale generations to follow. Mike took the most Joy and pride in his boys and their families; Tom (Angela), Tony (Melissa), and Calvin; his 7 grandchildren; Peyton (Kaytlynn), Colton (Abby),

Mackenzie, Lane (Bailey), Marissa (Zack Clyncke), Alyssa and Mckayla; and his 3 great grandchildren Westin, Evalynn and Gemma. He was proceeded into death by his father, mother,

stepfather, brother Tommy, sister Rhonda Kay, and his daughter Patricia Lynn. Mike went home to the Lord on September 28, 2025.

Funeral services will be held at 2:30 p.m., Saturday, October 4, 2025 at South Routt Bible Church. Interment will follow in Yampa Cemetery.
