Nicholas Shane Rowe was born at home on December 21, 1983 in Baggs, WY to Cathy Rowe and Shane Morehouse. He passed away with his mother by his side on January 21, 2026 at Memorial Regional Health in Craig, CO. A blessing from the beginning, he enriched all those he came into contact with, having an innocence and joy for life. He soon welcomed two sisters, Kayla and Britney. Nick spent his life in Craig living with his mother, sisters and grandparents. Nick proudly participated with Horizons in Moffat County and the Special Olympics. He also attended school in Moffat County until the end of his sophomore year. Many members of the community will remember Nick riding his adult yellow tricycle- whether in the halls of the high school or the middle school parking lot. He was always wearing his walkman listening to Shania Twain. Nick also loved going to work with his Papa in Powderwash, spending quality time with him and sneaking an early lunch when he could. He happily retired from Powderwash alongside his Papa. Nick spent many days at home with his beloved Grandma and Papa and would greet anyone that came to the house with “Hey,I have a story to tell you”. He was lovingly known as the family's bulletin board. Nick never let anything hold him back. He loved jeeping, camping, skiing, and going to the races in Hayden. Nick grew up surrounded by the love of his cousins, nieces and nephews and kept them all in line. Nick found deep joy in the simple blessings of life, especially the love of his mother. They were truly two peas in a pod, their bond a reflection of the deep, selfless love that mirrors God’s own love for His Children. Nick may have needed extra care in this world, but he gave far more than he ever received. He showed us a life filled with love, faith, and kindness is a life well lived. We believe Nick is now whole, at peace, and rejoicing in the presence of the Lord, surrounded by perfect love. Though our hearts ache, we are endlessly grateful for the 42 years we were blessed to walk alongside Nick. His spirit lives on in our faith, our memories, and the love we will carry forward in his name.
He is survived by his mom Cathy Barnhart, Grandparents David and Carol Rowe, Siblings Kayla Rowe and Britney Pape (Justin Pape), Stepbrother David Barnhart (Stevie Barnhart), nieces Addison, Autumn, Ava, Ameliah, nephews Noah, Aiden, and Avrey, Aunt Kim Serio (Bill Serio), and many loved cousins. Proceeded in death by his Father Shane Morehouse, Stepfather James Barnhart, cousins Newly and C.J.
A Celebration of Nick's life will be held at 2:00 p.m., Thursday, January 29, 2026, at New Creation Church in Craig. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions be made in Nick's memory to New Creation Church in care of Grant Mortuary, 621 Yampa Avenue, Craig, Colorado 81625.
