Orvie Wesley Zimmerman Jr. was born on August 12, 1942 to Orvie Wesley Zimmerman Sr. and Mary Alma Camp Zimmerman in Craig, Colorado. He was the 3rd born child out of 4 children. He grew up in Moffat County mining gold with his parents. He graduated from Moffat County High School in 1960. One winter day in 1962, a girl named Margie Mae Chambers asked Orvie out of coffee. 5 months later they were married. They had just celebrated their 63rd wedding anniversary on May 2. To this union, they had 3 children: Dewayne (Janelle), Jeana (Shawn), and Mark. Orvie had 8 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great-grandchildren. Orvie was one of the first building contractors in Moffat County. He was a gold miner in heart and soul. He would tell gold mining stories to anyone who would listen. He was also a maintenance man at The Memorial Hospital. He retired in 2016. He continued gold mining until the day he passed. Orvie was his kid and grandkids biggest sports fan. He loved watching them in all of their sports, but especially wrestling. He never missed a match of his kids or his grandkids. Orvie is in heaven now with his parents, his brothers, sister, his grandson and great-granddaughter. We’re sure they’re hunting, fishing and mining gold. A celebration of Orvie's Life will be held at 11:00 a.m., Friday, May 23, 2025, at The Journey at First Baptist Church in Craig. Inurnment will follow in Craig Cemetery.
