Bobby lived a life rich with love, purpose, and unforgettable connections. At the center of it all was his wife, Janice, with whom he shared his greatest joys—family, ranching, hunting, fishing, and welcoming others into their home.
He built lifelong friendships everywhere he went: from his high-school days and the Masonic Lodge to his many successful business ventures. Whether at the family hunting camp, the fishing camp, or simply visiting around the community, Bobby collected friends the way others collect memories—naturally, easily, and with genuine warmth.
His legacy is one of unwavering devotion: to the activities and dreams of his children and grandchildren; to his country, which he proudly served as a U.S. Navy veteran; and to teaching the value of hard work and truly living life. He will be remembered for his infectious smile, his love of Thanksgiving and Christmas, and his belief that when shopping, it’s always best to have “more than you need.”
Above all, it was Bobby’s bright, welcoming personality that lit the path of his life. He never met a stranger, and he could turn a quick errand into a long conversation—especially with the grocery store clerk. His presence was a beacon of kindness, humor, and generosity, one that will continue to shine in the lives of all who knew him.
He is survived by his wife, Janice (daughter of Darryl and Sharon Steele); children, Kevin (Suzanne) of Mandeville, LA, Kyle (Amy) of Hendersonville, TN, Troy (Kerby) Vernon of Grover, CO, Taylor Smith of Maybell, CO and Trent (Bailey) Vernon of Maybell, CO; grandchildren, Sam (Brooke) Edwards, Sarah (Sam) Joyce, Clair (Derek) Lyle, Ryan (Katy) Edwards, Adam Edwards, Will Edwards, Cory Edwards, Kylie Edwards, Rex Smith, Payson Vernon, Rowdy Smith, Oakley Vernon, McCoy Vernon, and Laiklyn Vernon; great grandchildren, Everly and Beckett Edwards; sisters, Dolly Skipper, Donna (Jim) Casteel; and several cousins, nieces and nephews.
