Lady Susan Gwen Delay was born Susan Gwen McGilton in Fort Benning Georgia on May 12, 1947. After the army, they settled in Northwest Colorado where Susan grew up in Craig surrounded by family. She married Charles Sanford Turner, May 15, 1965. They had two children, Charles Shawn and Joni Suzanne. Later in life, she married Gerald Delay, whom she spent the remaining 46 years of her life with.
Susan died peacefully in her sleep on July 22, 2025 surrounded by family. She is survived by her brother Dennis McGilton, her two children Shawn (Angie) Turner and Joni (Jesse) Walling; eight grandchildren Shalise (Cody) Abbott, Colton (Keylee) Turner, Trevor Turner, Bailey (Lance) Young, Skyler Walling, Jayden Walling, Wyatt Walling, and Kameron Walling; and three great granddaughters Aleighse Abbott, Avaleigh Abbott, and Charlotte June Young. She is also survived by nieces, nephews and cousins whom she loved dearly.
A celebration of life will be held in Craig Colorado at a later date.
