Lifetime Craig resident, Walter A. Bohrer went home to be with his Lord and Savior on Thursday, July 22, 2021, at his home in Craig. He was 81. A celebration of Walt’s life will be held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, August 21, 2021, at The Lighthouse of Craig. A reception will follow at the Center of Craig.
Walter Alva Bohrer was born to Walter L. and Mary M. (Solace) Bohrer on August 10, 1939 in Craig, Colorado. He spent his childhood in Maybell and attended schools in Lay and Maybell Colorado. Following high school, Walt traveled with Harvest Crew working on various ranches. During this time, Walt met the love of his life, Nancy Fay Bohrer in Denver. The couple were married on November 28, 1959 in Craig. To this union, three children were born. Walt and Nancy had the honor of celebrating 57 years of marriage before Nancy’s passing in 2016.
Walt served as a water commissioner in Moffat County for many years. When he wasn’t working, Walt enjoyed spending time on the ranch, riding his tractor, or singing silly songs to his grandchildren. More importantly, he was a devoted husband and loving father and grandfather who took pride in taking care of his family. Walt will be deeply missed by those who had the privilege to love and know him.
Walt is survived by his daughter, Belinda (Alejandro) Puente of Craig; and his son, Jimmy (Rita) Bohrer of Craig. Walt is further survived by 4 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren.
Walt was preceded in death by his wife, Nancy Bohrer; son, Walter Lewis Bohrer; and four siblings: Francis “Babe” Craig, Gretta Mae Foss, Everett Merle Bohrer and Ina Jackson.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions be made in Walt’s memory to The Lighthouse Church of Craig in care of Grant Mortuary.
Fond memories and expressions of sympathy may be shared at www.grantmortuarycraig.com for the Bohrer family.
