
William “Bill” Ogden Chambers was born December 7, 1922 to William C. “Shorty” and Charlotte (Berry) Chambers in Massadona, Colorado. Bill attended school for a short time in a country school near Meeker. Following his time spent in Meeker, he also received an education in Craig as well. Although Bill was not able to complete his education, he was a hard worker none the less. He worked for several local ranchers before going into the military. After receiving an honorable discharge from the Army, Bill drove a truck for the Colorado State Highway Department, for J.J. Stranton and Colowyo. When he wasn’t driving truck, he was diligently taking care of the cattle on his ranch. Bill died on Friday, June 18, 2021 at The Memorial Regional Hospital in Craig. Bill is preceded in death by his wife of over 50 years, Frances (Sweeney) Chambers; son Chuck Chambers; sister Alice and two brothers Wallace and Rodney. Bill is survived by his son Patrick Chambers; nieces Becky Kline, Pam Lowry and nephews Danny McClain, Zane McClain and Ray McClain. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m., Saturday, June 26, 2021 at The Grant Mortuary Chapel. Interment will follow in Craig Cemetery. Memorial donations may be made to Memorial Regional Health Hospice in care of Grant Mortuary.
