

He was born April 17, 1957 in Peoria to Ernest and Rachel (Cole) Schoenman, he married Patricia Kirby on December 31, 1988 in Clearwater Beach, Florida. She survives.
Also surviving are two children, Laken Schoenman of East Peoria and Christopher Schoenman of Creve Coeur; three brothers, Howard (Margaret) Schoenman of Creve Coeur, Dennis (Kathy) Schoenman of Washington and Roger Schoenman of Creve Coeur and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Christopher Schoenman.
He worked as a systems administrator for over 30 years at Caterpillar Inc, retiring February 1, 2020.
He was a member of Ducks Unlimited, Midwest Gun Collectors Association, USCCA, NRSC and Fairview Fin and Feather Club Inc.
Doug graduated from East Peoria Community High.
In 1975, he became an electrician apprentice for Caterpillar where he worked for six years. During the 1982 layoff, he went to Florida to find employment.
While there, he met and married his wife, Trish. They have been together for 33 years. He was called back to Caterpillar and they moved to Creve Coeur in May of 1989. Here they have raised their family and resided since. He was diagnosed with Glioblastoma brain cancer on August 23, 2020.
Douglas enjoyed photography, fishing and was an avid St. Louis Cardinals fan.
His funeral service will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday, January 18, 2022 at Preston-Hanley Funeral Homes & Crematory in Creve Coeur. Pastor Brandon Schoenman will officiate. Visitation will be an hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Burial will be at Prairie Haven Cemetery in Pekin.
