Born December 4, 1955 in Pekin to Arthur Leroy and Sybil Louise (Troxell) McHenry, he married Diana Sue Sweatt on June 11, 1977 in East Peoria. She survives.
Also surviving are two sons, Joshua (Amanda) McHenry of Erie, Colorado and Jason (Melissa) McHenry of Northglenn, Colorado; one granddaughter, Josephine McHenry of Northglenn, Colorado; one sister, Linda (Don) Ray of Waco, Texas and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents and two sisters.
Joe had worked at HK Logistics in Peoria for 15 years, retiring in 2018.
Family was first in Joe’s life. He enjoyed camping, traveling and working on his Mustang. He was known for being everyone’s handyman, who enjoyed helping others with their DIY projects.
Joe was a member of Pekin Lighthouse Church of God and enjoyed serving his church family as their Bob Vila.
His funeral will be at 10 a.m. Thursday, October 21, 2021 at Preston-Hanley Funeral Homes & Crematory in Creve Coeur. Pastor Rick Hill will officiate. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Wednesday evening at the funeral home. Burial will be at Roberts Cemetery in Morton.
