

Born September 4, 1938 in Pekin to Kenneth Leroy and Dorethy Elizabeth (Smith) Frantz, he married Jane Myers on October 12, 1958. They divorced and he later married Martha “Marty” Witteklend-Eads on August 25, 1990 in Groveland. She survives.
Also surviving are one son, Timothy (Mary) Frantz of Columbia, Missouri; one step-son, Thomas Eads of Secor; four grandchildren, Alyson (Matt) Thorp of El Paso, Miranda Frantz of Denver, Colorado, Jessica Eads of Springbay and Nicolas Eads of East Peoria; one brother, Norman Frantz of Knoxville, Tennessee; many nieces and nephews and his beloved grand pups.
He was preceded in death by his parents; one daughter, Dana Frantz and five siblings, Garold Frantz, Daniel Frantz, Dale Frantz, Janet Cagle and Brenda Doolen.
Marvin was a veteran of the United States Army Reserves.
He had worked for N.E. Finch Trucking for 50 years as a truck driver and later as a safety director, retiring in 2008.
A lifetime St. Louis Cardinals fan, Marvin loved baseball. He coached the East Peoria Little League and was a member of the Peoria Old-Timers Baseball Association. He also enjoyed boating at Table Rock Lake in Branson and collecting and working on classic cars.
His memorial service will be at 11 a.m. Monday, January 16, 2023 at Preston-Hanley Funeral Homes & Crematory in Creve Coeur. Pastor John Plunkett will officiate. Visitation will be an hour prior at the funeral home.
