Born October 3, 1935, in Peoria to Harvey and Della (Booker) Ball, she married Louis A. Courtouise on June 19, 1954, in East Peoria. He died February 14, 2022. Her parents and two brothers, Daryle Ball and Bernard Ball, also preceded her in death.
She is survived by many nieces and nephews.
A homemaker, Shirley loved to care for others. She enjoyed cooking, bird watching, and traveling. Shirley and Louis traveled the 50 states together and when Louis would go away on fishing trips, more often than not, Shirley was right there with him.
Her funeral will be at 11 a.m. Thursday, April 23, 2026, at Preston-Hanley Funeral Homes & Crematory in Creve Coeur. Visitation will be from 10 to 11 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Spring Bay Cemetery in Spring Bay.
