Arietta Elizabeth Barnett Knight Keller, know to friends and family as Libby passed away at 6:00 a.m. on January 17, 2025. She began to deteriorate in May 2024, and after several hospital stays, she died in Marion, Indiana of pneumonia. The family is grateful for the compassion of her nursing staff.
Libby was born into a loving and extended family in Charleston, West Virginia on August 24, 1946. She is preceded in death by her parents, Charlie F. and Arietta L. Barnett, her maternal grandparents, Robert L. and Setha E. Schoolcraft, and her paternal grandparents, Columbus and Samantha Barnett.
Libby grew up in South Park and graduated from Charleston High School. Soon after graduation she married Edward Knight. This began her adventure as a military wife. She not only traveled extensively across the United States, but to Saudi Arabia as well. Libby worked on the bases where they were stationed, but she was happiest as a homemaker and mother to her children. She was widely known as the best cook around. As a ninth grader at Horace Mann Junior High, she won the national Pillsbury Junior bakeoff contest.
The most important thing about Libby was her kind and compassionate heart. She often gave money to those in need, and she never looked to see if they were deserving. Libby often sang country songs in her beautiful "Patsy Cline" voice. In later years she married Gary Keller of Marion, Indiana, and after his passing, she devoted years to caring for Mr. Keller's special needs son, Greg.
Those left to mourn her passing are her children, Elizabeth Misha (David) Rosas of Pueblo, Colorado and Christopher Edward Knight of Byron, Georgia. Her grandchildren Aylana Elizabeth Bouret, Misha Nicole Bouret, and Alex Rosas. Her brother is Daniel Richard (Barbara) Barnett; her sisters are Constance Barnett (J.R.) Nash, Judith Barnett (Robert) DeLancey, Diana Barnett Thomas, and sister/cousin Linda Casdorph. Libby is mourned by relatives and friends scattered across the states. Our hearts are broken for our family has lost a kind and decent person. Memorial service will be held on Friday, February 7, at 1:00 p.m. at Tyler Mountain Cemetery in Cross Lanes, WV. Burial will follow next to her parents.
