Drew Paren, 74, passed away peacefully on December 21, 2024. Born in Hoboken, NJ, Drew spent much of his formative years in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, and Manila, where he developed a deep appreciation for culture, community, and creativity.
Drew was a proud alumnus of the University of North Carolina and enjoyed a diverse and fulfilling professional career. He began in technical sales with United Technologies, where his expertise and passion for innovation left a lasting impact. Later, he pursued his lifelong fascination with trains during his career with CSX Transportation. A true train enthusiast, Drew enjoyed exploring railroads, collecting memorabilia, and sharing his love for trains with others.
A lover of music and electronics, Drew also dedicated much of his time to rebuilding and collecting vintage radios, combining his technical skills with a creative spirit. His warmth, kindness, and uncanny ability to connect with people from all walks of life made him a cherished friend to many.
Drew is survived by his devoted wife, Linda Paren; his children, Joseph Paren and Mary Kate Paren; his mother, Kathleen Paren; and his brother, Brian Paren. His love, laughter, and generosity will be profoundly missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
A memorial service to honor Drew’s remarkable life will be held at 2 p.m. on January 4, 2025, at Tyler Mountain Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made in Drew’s memory to the St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
Gathering of family and friends will be from 1 until time of service at the funeral home.
