

Howard Cyril Beverley, 85, of Cross Lanes, West Virginia passed away, Sunday December 6, 2015 at Hubbard Hospice House of Alzheimer’s Disease. Son of the late Rufus Lawrence and Eva Evalina (Jordan) Beverley, he was born on March 6, 1930 in Kilsyth, WV. He graduated from Mount Hope High School in 1947 and worked as a coal miner until serving in the United States Marine Corps (1952-1953). He then entered the West Virginia State Police and retired as Lieutenant Colonel, serving from June 1954-September 1986 (32 years). Howard enjoyed fishing, hunting, and boating on Summersville Lake, but mostly being with family. He was a skilled woodworker, making many things for family and friends. Along with his parents he was preceded in death by his sister Marlene Beverley. He is survived by his wife of 59 years (September 29, 1956), Drema Maxine (McClung) Beverley, his daughters Susan Wade (Frank) of Cross Lanes, WV; Sandra Keller (Mike) of St. Albans, WV; and Stefanie Harris (Jeff) of Charleston, WV; sisters Virgie James of Hedgesville, WV; and Helen Beverley of Pinch, WV. Also surviving are his grandchildren Matthew Wade, Jacob Wade, Lauren Keller, Hilary Keller, Jessica Harris and great-granddaughter Layla Wade. The family will receive friends on Wednesday, December 9th,2015 from 5:00pm until 8:00pm. Services will be held Thursday, December 10th, 2015 at 11:00am at Tyler Mountain Funeral Home 5233 Rocky Fork Rd., Cross Lanes, WV 25313, with The Reverend Monty Brown officiating.
