James Franklin Nichols, 81, of St. Albans, passed away Thursday, January 11th 2018, at Cabell Huntington Hospital. He was born in Freeman, a neighborhood of Bramwell in Mercer County, WV to the late William Klanoff Nichols and Roamy Cox Nichols. After attending Bluefield State College, he enlisted with the United States Army during the early 1960's. James was an employee of the WV Department of Highways, retiring in 2014 as an Inspector with 48 years of dedicated service.
He is survived by his wife, Donna Sue Bailey Nichols and sons, James "Jimmy", William "Billy" (Angelia) Dion (Linda) and daughter, Leavinia Justice. One grandson, Jamison of Nitro. Brother William (Pat) Nichols along with nephews Tommy and Tony of Ohio.
His hobbies included roller skating, dancing, fast cars and singing. His enjoyed performing karaoke and was a fan of Elvis Presley. Jim was often praised for his ability to perform music styles of various artists. He was a standing member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles and the Charleston Moose Lodge.
Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Tuesday, January 16th at Casdorph & Curry Funeral Home 110 B St. Saint Albans. Visitation is scheduled for 5 to 7 p.m. Monday, January 15th at the funeral home.
