

It is with great sadness, we announce the peaceful passing of Janet Arlene Vansickle Arbaugh, 85, a beloved mother, grandmother, great grandmother, and wife, on April 29th, 2025. She was a resident of Leon, WV. Janet is preceded in death by her husband, Loyd Franklin Arbaugh, parents, Eugene and Hazel Lake Vansickle, and brother, Roger Vansickle.
Janet was a devoted mother to her three children, David Bonnett, of St. Albans, WV, Kathy Thaxton (John), of Cross Lanes, WV and Tim Bonnett (Laura) of Cross Lanes, WV. A loving grandmother to her three grandchildren, Stacie Whitehead (Hance) of Charlotte, NC, Matt Thaxton, of Cross Lanes, WV, and Jordan Bonnett, of St. Albans, WV. A proud great grandmother to Hider Whitehead, Keiton Thaxton, and Indigo Whitehead. She is also survived by her sister, Carlene Bowyer, of Palm Bay, FL, and her brother Larry Vansickle, of Nitro, WV, as well as a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and her stepchildren, Dwayne Arbaugh, David Arbaugh, Teresa Bethel, Trena Kohler, and Lena Arbaugh.
Janet’s grandchildren and great grandchildren were the pride and joy of her life. She enjoyed spending her days on her farm with her cat, Prissy, tending to her beautiful flowers, and appreciating the beauty and peace surrounding her. Her love was a force of nature, a passionate and unwavering presence, her resilience was a testament to her character, and her kindness and compassion was felt by all who had the privilege of knowing her.
The family would like to extend our heartfelt gratitude to J.W. Ruby Memorial Hospital and Hubbard House of Charleston, WV, for the incredible care and compassion given to Janet.
Celebration of Janet’s life will be at 11 A.M. Friday May 2, 2025 at Tyler Mt. Funeral Home. Entombment will follow at Cunningham Memorial Park, St Albans.
Gathering of family and friends will be from 11 until time of service at the funeral home.
