

Rev. John Ray Fizer, 88, of Homosassa, FL, formerly of St. Albans, W.Va., went to be with his Lord after a long and courageous battle with cancer on Sept. 25th. John was loved and respected by all in his community and will be remembered as a kind, caring and helpful individual. He helped lead many souls to Christ and touched many others in his daily walk of life. John is survived by his two daughters, Donna Ridley of Casselberry and Homosassa, FL and Cindy S. Fizer of Homosassa; his son, Chuck Fizer of St. Albans, W. Va.; grandchildren Sean Ridley (wife Veronique), Brandon, FL; Cori Ridley, Tampa, FL and Kayla R. Fizer, Winfield, W.Va.; great grandchildren Emilie and Noah Ridley, Brandon, FL; brother Bill Fizer (wife Betty), St. Albans, W. Va. and his loving companion of 2 years, Joan Bailey. In addition to his parents, Rev. Fizer was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 57 years, Edith E. “Pat” Fizer, on April 2, 2014. John was a 38 year employee of Union Carbide, Institute, W. Va. and served his country honorably in the U.S. Army and the U.S. Army Reserves for more than 22 years, attaining the rank of Master Sergeant. An ordained minister since 1991, John was the former pastor of Suncoast Baptist Church of Homosassa and former associate pastor of First Baptist Church of Homosassa. The family would like to thank the many friends from his Church, his wonderful and giving neighbors he loved and cherished so much, and his longtime fishing partner, Skip Henderson. A celebration of Rev. Fizer’s life will be will be 12:00 p.m., Wednesday , October 4, 2017 at Casdorph & Curry Funeral Home, 110 B Street, St. Albans with Pastor Joel Harpold officiating. Interment will follow with full military graveside rites at Cunningham Memorial Park, St. Albans. Friends may call one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
