

Ray Lilly, 78, of Charleston, WV, passed away Feb. 6, 2015. He was a lifelong resident of Charleston, WV. He was an avid fox hunter who enjoyed spending time and telling tales and listening to his hounds with his many fellow fox hunters. Ray was born on May 11, 1936, the son of Cary Judson and Esta Alice Lilly. Ray was a self-employed welder before joining Millwright Union Local #1755 in 1967. Well-known throughout the community, he ran for county commission seat, was instrumental in starting the Kanawha 2-Mile Reunion, served on the Board of Trustees for the Lilly Family Reunion in Beckley, was a member of the Wesley United Methodist Church where he served as a lay minister, and attended the Dunbar Mountain Mission. He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Gladys; sons, Jeffrey Wayne, Steven Ray and his wife, Brenda, and Michael Todd and his wife, Crissy; brothers, Aubrey, Frank, Doug, and Orville; sisters, Eleanor, Lenora, Joretta, and Luretta; and grandchildren, Justin, Nathaniel Ray, Brandon, Ethan, and Conner. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three brothers, James, Joe and Marlin. The family would especially like to thank Dr. D.K Basu of Charleston Heart Specialists for his compassionate care and friendship over many years. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the American Heart Association. Services will be held at 11:00am on Tuesday at Tyler Mountain Funeral Home, 5233 Rocky Fork Rd., Cross Lanes, followed by entombment at Tyler Mountain Memory Gardens.
