

Miriam Louise "Mickey" (Boozer) Robinette, 89, passed away peacefully on Saturday, July 8, 2017, in Sugarland, Texas, where she had lived the past several years with her daughter and son-in-law, Virginia and John Shelton. She was preceded in death by her husband of 32 years, William H. Robinette Sr., her three siblings Virginia Harriett Jones of Memphis, Tenn., James Rezin Boozer and George Thomas Boozer both of Columbia, S.C., and a grand-daughter Kimberly Robinette Westbrook of Hudson, N.C. Surviving are her children William H. "Bill" Robinette, Jr. and wife Hanna of Oakton, Va., Dr. James D. "J.D." Robinette, DDS and companion Susan B. Rudisill both of Hickory, N.C., Virginia R. Shelton and husband John of Sugarland, Texas, and Theodore "Ted" Douglas Robinette and wife Mitzie of Ninety-Six, S.C. She is survived by her Grand-children Billy Robinette and wife Stephanie, Dan Robinette and wife Michelle, Anthony Robinette and Tyler Robinette all of California, Melanie S. Johnson and husband Danny of Austin, Texas, Russell Shelton of Honolulu, Hawaii, Jason Tweed and wife Jenni, Ben Tweed and Matthew Tweed all of North Carolina. She is also survived by 13 great-grandchildren, Aidan and Madison Robinette, Heather and Stephen Salvatore, Sophia Robinette, T.J. Westbrook (Father-Tim Westbrook), Matthew Johnson and her namesake, Rebecca Miriam Johnson, Madison and Noah and Jack Tweed, Sara and Ashley Tweed. At the end of WWII, she married William Henry Robinette in his hometown of Ashland, Ky., on August 1, 1945. While living there, they had two sons, Bill and J.D. before moving to St. Albans W.Va., where they had Virginia and Ted. With her husband, she raised the four children, putting all through college. She sold insurance, was secretary for Union Carbide and took great pride in being a mother, and homemaker. Her legacy can be measured through the success of her children and grandchildren--all good people, doing good things in the world, a testament to her love, instruction and sacrifice. She was an accomplished cook and seamstress. She made her home a great place for her children to grow up and their friend’s favorite place to eat. She filled their lives with great experiences and taught them the value of education, work, worship and play. She loved all her grandchildren and great- grandchildren and living close enough in earlier years, helped to raise Melanie and Russell. She was active in her church throughout her life, performing in church plays, singing in the choir, baking for church events, collecting for the backpack ministry and always helping to feed and clothe the homeless. She enjoyed long time friends Ruth Swarbrick, Sue Hupp and Sharon Myland, and appreciated the friendship and care of devoted friends Kathi and John McCormick, and dear friend Melody Mynes. A visitation will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, July 28, at Casdorph & Curry Funeral Home, 110 B Street, St. Albans. Pastor Ritchie McNiel will preside over a noon service at Lakeview United Methodist Church, 2624 E Parkview Dr., St. Albans, on Saturday, July 29. A short visitation will also be held at the church one hour prior to the service. She will be laid to rest beside her husband in Cunningham Memorial Park.
