She was born June 18, 1953 in Kimball, the daughter of Carl E. and Doris Simmons. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her sister, Ramona Jean Stanks.
Loved and survived by her husband of 50 years, Dennis McCoy; children Todd McCoy (Alyssa) and Stephanie Berry (Jordan); ten grandchildren Matt McCoy, Bridget McCoy, Evelyn McCoy, Sam McCoy, Jack Berry, Colin McCoy, Jacob Berry, Joseph Berry, Jonah Berry, and Kyle McCoy; nephew Chris Stanks, nieces Julie Martinez, Christi Smith, Lee Stewart, and Erica Bush and many other close relatives and dear friends.
A graduate of Woodrow Wilson High School, Beckley, Pat moved with her family to their current home in Cross Lanes, WV in 1985. As a real people-person that thrived in the community, Pat started her very successful advertising company, Pat McCoy Advertising. She ran her business until her health forced her to retire. Simultaneously, she was an active community leader putting together parties at the local pool for kids and adults alike that people still talk about today.
As one might imagine, Pat was very competitive, which carried over to area tennis courts where she was known to run competition all over the courts as an accomplished and ranked tennis player. Correspondingly, she was the biggest fan for her kids and pushed them to excel in every aspect of their lives. Additionally, Pat and Dennis closely shared their mutual passion as avid outdoors adventure seekers, movie-goers, and local restaurant connoisseurs.
More than anything, Pat McCoy will be remembered for the love and kindness that she shared for the people and animals around her. She fiercely loved her family and friends and cared deeply for animals in-need.
That said, in lieu of flowers, the family requests for any donations to be made to Kanawha-Charleston Humane Association (adoptcharleston.com) in her memory.
Celebration of Patricia’s life will be 12:00 P.M. Tuesday, June 27, 2023 at Blue Ridge Funeral Home, Prosperity with Celebrant HR Whittington presiding.
Gathering of family and friends will be from 11 until time of service at the funeral home.
