

Thurma Mae Zickafoose, 96, of Nitro, passed away peacefully on Aug. 29, 2015 at Hubbard Hospice House West. Mae was born on March 18, 1919 in Fayette County, WV, a daughter of the late John G. and Maxie Shaver Smith. She was also preceded in death by her husband of 64 years, Grady R. Zickafoose; one daughter, Darlene Zickafoose; one son, Grady, Jr.; a special grandson, Justin D.. Zickafoose; two brothers, Morton and John Smith; and her three sisters, Reba Duncan, Delphia Gwinn, and Virginia Gragg. She is survived by her children, Myrna Graham of Manchester, Maine, Janet Ellis of Charleston, WV, Darrell B. Zickafoose of Apple Grove, WV, and John G.(Darlene) Zickafoose of Monclova, Ohio; ten grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; and two brothers, William O. Smith of Phoenix, AZ and Jack Smith of Hico, WV. Mae was an active member of the Nitro Church of God. She was a Christian and a homemaker. Service will be held on Tuesday, Sept. 1 at 12:00 p.m. at the Nitro Church of God, 1517 Second Ave., Nitro with Pastors Rob Van Fossen and Arley Cravens officiating. Burial will follow at Tyler Mountain Memory Gardens, Cross Lanes. Visitation will be held at the Church from 10:30am until the time of service.
