She was born October 2, 1928 in Browns Creek, the daughter of Ruffner and Ida Cash Miles. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Jesse, son, James, 5 brothers, and 4 sisters.
Velma owned and operated Hensley’s Grocery, and attended Park Avenue Church of Christ. She like to crochet and cook. A loving mother, grandmother, sister and friend that will be missed by all who knew her.
She is survived by her son, David Hensley (Pam), of FL, Jeannie Horsfield (Herman), of St. Albans, grandchildren, Robin Thaxton, Scott Horsfield, Lisa Holstein, Jason Hensley, Adam Hensley, Scott Patrick, and Sean Patrick, 10 great grandchildren, and 1 great great granddaughter, brothers, Jerry, Don, Stanley, and Denny Miles, and sisters, Sandy Morris, and Barbara Sexton.
Graveside Service will be 2:00 PM Friday, February 11, 2022 at Cunningham Memorial Park Lower Mausoleum.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital.
