

He was born on April 22, 1931, in Charleston, the son of the late Walter Curtis, Sr. and Leva Frances Casdorph Dudley. Also preceding him in death was his twin sister, Wanda Dudley Williams and another sister, Virginia Dudley Tabor.
He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Lillie Fay Young Dudley; two sons, Walter R. (Barbara) Dudley of Gulfport, MS, and David A. (Nancy) Dudley of Cross Lanes; his daughter, M. Penny Wabich; three grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and one great-great granddaughter; and several nieces and nephews. Walter enlisted in the US Marine Corps and served in Korea.
He was the lone survivor of his platoon during an attack in the summer of 1949. He was the machine gunner for his unit. After leaving the military, he worked at Union Carbide as a pipefitter. He taught Sunday School at the Cross Lanes Bible Church many years ago. He was an active member of the church. He loved to hunt and fish in his spare time.
Services will be held on Saturday at 11am at Cross Lanes Bible Church, 5442 Big Tyler Rd., Cross Lanes, with Pastor Dave Buckley officiating. Burial will follow at Tyler Mountain Memory Gardens.
