Ann was a graduate of Barnard College and lived in Paris for 3 years where she worked in a U.S. government office. She met her husband Richard on Fire Island in 1954. She said it was the happiest day of her life. They married in San Francisco in 1959. A year later they took their honeymoon in Europe. The couple had their first child John in 1960 and moved to west 87th st. in Manhattan, where Billie Holiday was the former tenant. They moved to Stuyvesant Town where they had their daughter Julie in 1962, then to London, England for 2 years. Ann loved her cats, crossword puzzles, art and cooking. Although she was not Jewish, she spent days preparing the annual Joseph family Seder. She was most content tending her garden on Melrose Avenue where she lived for 47 years. She loved to collect stamps, and keep up with her correspondence with her closest friends, relatives and children. She was a private person who was extremely loyal to her family. She worked as a personal secretary for Walter J. Levy, an oil consultant, at 30 Rockefeller Plaza for more than 25 years. On her daily commute she took notes on the wildlife she saw on the Hudson River, which were later published in a nature journal.
