

Born on September 24, 1938, in Peekskill, New York, Barbara graduated from Hendrick Hudson High School with the Class of 1956. Shortly thereafter, she began dating Gerald “Gerry” Parker, the love of her life. The couple married on July 5, 1959, and made their home in Croton-on-Hudson, where they raised their family and were blessed with four children. Barbara and Gerry shared 61 wonderful years of marriage before his passing in October 2020.
Barbara and Gerry shared a love of travel and adventure. Together, they visited all 50 states, traveling extensively throughout the country in their motor coach. Their journeys included a memorable trip to Alaska and a visit to Hawaii, as well as travels to many foreign countries. Along the way, they created cherished memories and formed lasting friendships.
Barbara worked as a secretary for Briggs Rogers Insurance Agency in Croton-on-Hudson, where she was known for her dedication and friendly demeanor.
Barbara was an active member of her community. She belonged to the Croton Seniors, Buchanan Seniors, and Ossining Seniors groups, where she enjoyed fellowship and participation in community activities. She was also a longtime and devoted member of Asbury United Methodist Church in Croton-on-Hudson.
Barbara is survived by her loving daughters, Sue Kitchen (Chuck) and Sharon Pate (Ernie); her grandchildren, Kathryne Snide (Andy), Steven Kitchen (Emma), Kevin Kitchen (Anne), Cassidy Pate, and Parker Pate; and her cherished great-grandchildren, Harvey Snide, Hudson Snide, Kennedy Kitchen, Patrick Kitchen, Keaton Kitchen, and Martin Kitchen.
In addition to her husband, Gerry, Barbara was predeceased by her son, Gerald Parker Jr., and her daughter, Stephanie Parker.
Family and friends may visit on Friday, June 5, 2026, from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Edward F. Carter Funeral Home, 41 Grand Street, Croton-on-Hudson, New York.
A Funeral Service will be held on Saturday, June 6, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. at Asbury United Methodist Church in Croton-on-Hudson. Interment will immediately follow at Bethel Cemetery in Croton-on-Hudson.
Barbara will be remembered for her devotion to her family, her faith, her adventurous spirit, and the kindness she extended to all who knew her. Her legacy lives on through the family she loved so dearly.
