

She was born Barbara A. Knox on November 20, 1936. Her life was a life of total giving, warmth and caring for everyone. She was predeceased by her parents, Charles and Lillian Knox.
Barbara grew up in White Plains and after high school, completed her vows and became a Sister of Charity for 15 years. When she entered the convent she became Sr. Barbara A. Knox. In March of 1962 she was able to select a name special to her and became Sr. Maureen Charles until she left in 1969.
Barbara met her husband in October of 1970 and was married in August of 1971. Another fulfillment and joy of her life was the birth of her sons, Edward Jr. and Daniel.
She began her teaching career at St. Mary’s in Yonkers, NY, then went on to St. Joseph’s by the Sea in Staten Island. For the next 30 years she was a Special Education Teacher at Hawthorne Cedar Knolls U.F.S.D., Hawthorne, NY and retired in June of 1998.
Barbara was a special person who never stopped giving or caring and is finally at peace.
She is survived by her loving husband Edward and her caring sons Edward Jr., Daniel and his wife Maria.
