Jane Haarsgaard Cox of Ossining, NY passed away on Thursday June 29, 2023 at the age of 80. Jane was born in Brooklyn, NY on March 31, 1943 to Walter and Catherine Haarsgaard. She was one of 7 children. In 1961, she graduated from Garden City High School in Garden City, NY and then from Catholic University in Washington, DC four years later. After a whirlwind romance, she married the love of her life Lawrence (Larry) Cox in 1965. Jane worked as a buyer for Macy’s in New York City before pursuing an MBA from George Washington University when her son Tim was just 5 years old.
Jane was a loving and devoted mother, wife, sister, and grandmother. She loved a good joke and was fiercely loyal.
Jane is survived by her son Tim Cox and his wife Emily Soper, her granddaughter Ali, and her brothers Bob, Ed, and Walter Haarsgaard. She was predeceased by her beloved husband Larry, her parents, her sister Anne Hale, and her brothers Owen and Tom Haarsgaard.
Services for Jane were private. She was laid to rest with her family in York, PA. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in her memory to The Hudson River Audubon Society:
