Margaret Mary Meeks Meany

Margaret Meeks Meany, 88, formerly of Croton-on-Hudson, NY, died peacefully Friday, February 22, 2013. Born in Worcester, MA on October 23, 1924, she was the daughter of the late Rose and Owen Meeks. She graduated from Sacred Heart High School, Yonkers in 1941 and St. Vincent's School of Nursing in 1945. She worked as a nurse at St. Joseph's Hospital, Yonkers until 1955 when she focused full time on her family.

Margaret was a parishioner of Holy Name of Mary, Croton-on-Hudson, NY and volunteered faithfully for many years for Croton Caring.

She was predeceased by her husband Peter Meany in 1990 with whom she celebrated 41 years of marriage and her brother William, who died in August, 1965. She is survived by her sister Ellen O'Brien of Wantagh, NY; sons Peter M Meany of Ossining, NY and Dennis P Meany of Norwalk, CT; their wives Kathryn and Nancy; her grandchildren Krista, Sean, Caitlin, Colin, and Brenda; six nephews and one niece.

A wake will be held at Carter Funeral Home, 41 Grand St, Croton-on-Hudson, NY on Tuesday, February 26, 2013 from 2-4 & 7-9pm. A Funeral Mass will be held at Holy Name of Mary, 110 Grand St, Croton- on- Hudson, NY at 10am on Wednesday, February 27, 2013 with the interment to follow at Gate of Heaven Cemetery, Valhalla, NY.
