Patsy L. Freer passed away peacefully at home with her family by her side on October 22, 2022. She was born to William and Emily Freer of Croton-on-Hudson, NY where she lived until she met her husband, Harold Hatzmann from Ossining, NY.
She met him on the train on the way to work shortly after high school. He was in the Army and went overseas and she moved to Miami with her family. Upon his return, he proposed and she moved back to NY. Pat was a social butterfly, and her brief stay in Miami had given her the opportunity to ride on a float in the Orange Bowl Parade while she worked for Eastern airlines. That career was put on hold so that she could begin raising a family back in Cortlandt Manor, NY.
Pat enjoyed many roles in life including wife, mother, grandmother and career professional for corporate America once her children were grown. She spent a lot of time with her family on Cape Cod boating, fishing and exploring. She loved the beach, gardening, bowling, singing and dancing, and was an avid reader. Most importantly, she loved spending time with her grandchildren and taking walks on the beach when she retired to Myrtle Beach. Pat was a light in this world, young at heart and always the life of the party. She will forever be missed.
She is survived by four daughters and a son-in-law; Kathryn L. Hatzmann of New Milford, CT. , Barbara J. Hatzmann of Waquot, MA, Sheri A. Hatzmann of Florida, NY, Sandra L. Gonsalves of Fort Mill, SC and Keith Gonsalves of Fort Mill, SC. In addition to her children, she is survived by four grandchildren, Kyle J. Gonsalves, Ashleigh L. Gonsalves, Cameron W. Gonsalves and Brianna L. Hatzmann.
A visitation will be held for her family and friends on Thursday, October 27, 2022 from 4 to 8 PM at Edward F. Carter Funeral Home, 41 Grand Street, Croton-on-Hudson, NY 10520. The final service will be held at 11am at Edward F. Carter Funeral Home with interment to follow at Sleepy Hollow Cemetery in Tarrytown, NY.
