

Bill proudly served from 1949-1952 in the Army National Guard during the Korean War at Fort Bliss, Texas. He served as an officer of the New York City Police Department for 21 years and retired a Lieutenant. He was a professor of criminology at Westchester Community College for 20 years, after earning his B. S. and M. A. from John Jay College, and retired in 1991.
As a long time parishioner at Holy Name of Mary Parish in Croton on Hudson, Bill held the Grand Knight and District Deputy position in Council #4730. Bill was an active Board member of the Croton Caring Committee.
Bill married the girl of his dreams in 1955, Maureen O’Neill of Brooklyn, the kindest woman he had ever met. They were blessed with eight children- Kathleen (deceased 2010) May (Russ Harper), Patricia, Ann Marie (Gary Ellison), Alice (Thomas Habib) William (Susan), John (deceased as an infant), and Maureen (Matthew Searles), 20 grandchildren and 3 great-grand children. He was predeceased by his loving wife Maureen in 2009.
Visitation will be held on Monday, March 7, 2016 from 3-7PM at EDWARD F. CARTER FUNERAL HOME, 41 Grand St., Croton-on-Hudson, NY. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday, March 8, 2016 10AM at Holy Name of Mary Church, 110 Grand St., Croton-on-Hudson, NY with burial to follow at Bethel Cemetery also in Croton.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Croton Caring Committee, 38 Penfield Ave., Croton-on-Hudson, NY or Holy Name of Mary School of Religion
