Catherine Theresa Murphy

Catherine Theresa Murphy, 83, of Crystal Lake passed away October 21, 2017 at her home. She was born November 26, 1933 in Chicago to Austin Joseph and Nora (Heneghan) Coughlin. On October 24, 1953 she married William Murphy in Chicago.

Catherine was a devoted mother and grandmother, her family meant everything to her. She loved family gatherings, whether it was for her favorite, Christmas, or to watch the kids and grandkids in their activities. Her family was also able to enjoy her amazing talent as a gourmet cook. Catherine was a very independent and organized woman. She was also an avid reader of books and the daily news.

She is survived by her children; Kathleen Marie (Ray) Barber, William Joseph (Anna) Murphy Jr., Mary Susan (Kurt) Waatti, Paul Austin Murphy, Noreen Mary (Paul) Garmisch, Daniel John Murphy, David Jude Murphy; her grandchildren, Shannon Kathleen (Kevin) Moffett, Matthew Raymond Barber, Kerry David Murphy, Collin Joseph Murphy, Kitt Patrick Garmisch, Luke Austin Garmisch, Michael Patrick Murphy; and her great-grandson, Austin James Moffett.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; her daughter-in-law Molly Murphy; and her sister, Mary Ellen (Fred) Accomando.

A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11am on Wednesday, October 25 at St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church, 451 W. Terra Cotta Ave. Crystal Lake.

Interment will be in Crystal Lake Memorial Park.
