David J. "Dave" Engelbrecht

Crystal Lake—David J. “Dave” Engelbrecht, 74, of Crystal Lake died Thursday, July 8, 2010, at his home.

He was born November 10, 1935, in Chicago to John and Jessica (Prosser) Engelbrecht. On August 6, 1955, he married Beverly A. Harvell in Crystal Lake.

He was a resident of Crystal Lake since the early 1950s. He was employed as a mechanic working with General Motors until his retirement in 1997. After retirement he took great pleasure in spending time with his family and listening to music.

He is survived by his wife, Beverly; his children, Debra (Mark) McLaren and David (Meredith) Engelbrecht; his grandchildren, Heather and Ryan McLaren, and Amelia, Madeleine, John, and Henry Engelbrecht; his brothers, John (Jan) Engelbrecht and James (Mary) Engelbrecht; and many nieces, nephews, brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Visitation will be from 4pm until the 7pm funeral service on Tuesday, July 13, at Querhammer & Flagg Funeral Home, 500 W. Terra Cotta Ave., Crystal Lake.

Interment will be private.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Hospice of Northeastern Illinois, 405 Lake Zurich Rd., Barrington, IL 60010, or to the charity of the donor’s choice.
