I worked with Don for many years at COD Police Department.  He was a great partner and I remember him always smiling, no matter what was thrown at us. I will miss him dearly, even though it has been years, since we shared a beer and meal. May we meet again one day  and share some memories.


I worked with Don at LGH until I retired in 2018. Don was a kind man with a gentle heart. So sad to learn of his passing. My condolences to his family 


We’ve known each other for over 20 years. Was nice & caring fellow.  You will be miss, Don. 

Eternal rest grant unto Don , O Lord,  and let perpetual light shine upon Don. 
Rest In Peace our friend.

Your sense of humor and general good-natured demeanor is what comes to mind immediately when I think of you.

I shall never forget our times together, nor shall I forget your compassion and humanity.

Captain Byzar and The Good Doctor made quite a pair during our short time together didn’t we!

I am saddened to learn of Office Stange. My thoughts and  prayers to the Stange family during this time of healing.

I am thankful to have shared memories with  Don while working at Northwestern University Police Department. Don was my Field Training Officer with a lot of knowledge. Not only did I learn how to be a good police Officer, but a good humble person as well. That who Officer Stange was to me, and I am sure to others.

I am sure Don  made a difference in so many lives with his smile and his humor. 

I am thankful to have been a part in his life learning and growing from. 

Memories carries forever.

As he worked in the Public Safety Department, he was well liked. He liked working with people and helping them.

To the Stange family my prayers and thoughts are with you. Don Stange was a teacher, a mentor, and a wise friend. He left his thumb prints all over my life, which I am grateful for.  He was one of my first Field Training Officers.  He was my best and most impactful FTO. His words still resonate within me, and the lessons he gave me shaped not only my career, but the careers of the people I’ve trained along the way as well. The last thing he said to me was “keep a good thought”.  He truly believed in helping others, and taught others he had a chance to spend time with to do the same.  May your lessons live on.. Rest In Peace my friend. I will miss you. I’m honored to have known you.

Prayers to the Stange family during this difficult time. I met Don years ago when he was a detective and he later became my FTO. I had the pleasure of working with him for four years. Don was not only a mentor but a valued friend. When my daughter was in the PICU we would visit when he worked at a LGH.  Don was always compassionate about others and his laugh will be deeply missed. Rest In Peace Don.

My heart is in pieces for the family. Don, Lynn, Nikita and Naomi came into my life 15 years ago and a solid friendship was formed over the years as I babysat Naomi. When my husband and I became foster parents to 2 babies Don was always helping me when he picked up Naomi. He would help get the babies ready for bedtime and both of the kids grew up loving Mr. Don. When we adopted those little ones - Don and Naomi were able to come the court house to witness the adoption. His compassion for others in this world that were less fortunate was one of the many things my entire family loved about him. Rest In Peace my friend.
