Frances E. Holz

Frances E. Holz (nee Payne), 92, of Crystal Lake passed away peacefully on June 29, 2015. She was born on February 22, 1923 in Milan, Missouri to Reuben and Marian (Bookout) Payne. To many of those in Milan she was known as “Petey Payne.”

She and her husband spent many years as snowbirds in Ft. Myers, Florida. Frances was also involved in many clubs with her husband including the camera club, turtle back travelers of Illinois, and they were also band parents at Calumet High School. She was very active in tracing her family genealogy.

Frances was the beloved wife of the late Kurt A. Holz. Beloved mother of JoAnn (John) Moss of Crystal Lake and Andrea (Robert) Grzybowski of Parkton, Maryland. Grandmother of six, Jay Moss, Rob (Jennifer) Moss of Gilbert Arizona, and Brian Moss of Crystal Lake. Also grandmother of Tim (Pamela) Grzybowski of Frederick, Maryland, Adam (Kristy) Grzybowski of Fallston, Maryland, and Lauren (Patrick) Underwood of Marriottsville, Maryland. Great-grandmother of 14. Sister-in-law to Dorothy Holz-Suchor of White Bear Lake, MN, and Elsie Holz-Kraner of Texas.

Visitation will be from 4 to 8pm on Monday, July 6 at Querhammer & Flagg Funeral Home, 500 W. Terra Cotta Ave., Crystal Lake. The service will be at 7pm.

Interment will be private.
