He was born in New York City.
He loved golfing and gardening. He enjoyed spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren.
He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Elizabeth; his children, Mark Sullivan, Matthew (Betty) Sullivan, Ann Sullivan, and Joseph (Heather) Sullivan; his grandchildren, Anthony, Adam, and Amanda.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Donald.
Visitation will be from 3 to 9pm on Friday, May 6, at Querhammer & Flagg Funeral Home, 500 W. Terra Cotta Ave., Crystal Lake. The funeral service will be at 11am on Saturday, May 7, at the funeral home.
Interment will be private.
In lieu of flowers, masses in Gene’s name would be appreciated or memorials may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
