Grace E. Anderson

She was born August 28, 1925 in Oak Park to Gustaf and Esther (Nelson) Krantz. Her family spent the depression years on her grandparents' farm outside of Algonquin. Later Grace and her parents moved to Crystal Lake where she attended high school and worked at National Tea Food Store. She graduated from what is now Central High School in 1944. She went to work at Oak Manufacturing. Grace married Donald M. Anderson on November 2, 1947 in Crystal Lake and they spent the rest of their lives there. She helped run her husband’s painting and decorating business for many years. She worked as a drive-up teller at Home State Bank for 21 years, until the age of 74. Grace was on the board of the Crystal Lake Union Cemetery Association, and a member of the mayor’s committees to obtain a senior center for Crystal Lake. She was very proud of all of her family and her Swedish heritage. She was blessed with many friends and enjoyed having meals and a cup of coffee out whenever she could. For over 60 years her church home was the Crystal Lake Methodist Church.

She is survived by her daughters, Janet “Jan” (Joseph) Rickard and Donna (Steve) Crivello; her grandchildren, Stacey (Jacob) Yukna, Jerrad (Betsy) Rickard, Jeffery (Stephanie) Crivello, Jeanna (Don) Francis, Trevor (Denise) Crivello, and Jody Crivello; and her great-grandchildren, Isabella, Eli, Olivia, Gabe, Jake, Ava, Jack, Lily, Brooke, Beatrice, Milania, and Eliza.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Donald, and her parents.

Visitation will be from 9:30am to 11am on Wednesday, March 25 at the First United Methodist Church, 236 W. Crystal Lake Ave., Crystal Lake. The funeral service will be at 11am.

Interment will be in McHenry County Memorial Park, Woodstock.

Memorials may be made to the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation, Florida Chapter, West Palm Beach, FL, the Crystal Lake Senior Center, or to the Crystal Lake First United Methodist Church.
