
Guy was a Professional Civil Engineer, a career he loved. He received his Bachelor of Science Degree in Engineering Technology from Southern Illinois University in 1984. He received a Masters in Public Administration from Governors State University in 1993. Guy acquired a second Masters Degree in Project Management from Keller Graduate School of Management in 2000, where he met his wife, Angela. Guy held a lifelong love of learning and was passionate cyclist, logging many daily rides of 100 miles.
Guy was employed by the Village of Homewood, IL as Assistant to the Director of Public Works, as Assistant City Engineer in Sun Prairie, Wisconsin and as Director of Public Works/Engineering in the Village of Wheeling, IL. Most recently, Guy was employed with Baxter & Woodman in Crystal Lake, IL as a Project Engineer.
He is survived by his wife, Angela (Dewey) Kolberg, whom he married on September 23, 2000 at First Congregational Church, in West Dundee, IL. He is also survived by a son, Henry William Kolberg, and two daughters: Meghan Ann Kolberg and Abigail Kay Kolberg. He is survived by his five sisters: Paula (Kurtis) Rowe, Janis Kolberg, Roberta (Joachim) Ciasto, Carol (Tom) Bennett, and Kathleen (Robert) Duffy. He will be fondly remembered and missed by his many nieces and nephews: Michelle, Mike, Tony, Ariel, Theresa, James, Chadd, Brad, Laura, and Temen.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Mildred H. and Vernon W. Kolberg, in 1981 and 1999, respectively.
The family gratefully acknowledges and thanks the Doctors, Nurses, and Medical staff at Centegra Hospital and the Emergency Medical Personnel for their care and support during his illness.
Visitation will be from 4 to 8pm on Thursday, December 29, at Querhammer & Flagg Funeral Home, 500 W. Terra Cotta Ave., Crystal Lake.
A funeral service will be at 10:00am on Friday, December 30, at the funeral home.
Interment will be in Mt. Hope Cemetery, Elgin.
