She was born April 6, 1949 in Evanston to Floyd and Harriet (Nicol) Martin. She was married to Timothy Farr by her mother on June 22, 1985 in their home.
Lonnie was a jack-of-all-trades. She was a teacher in Palatine for 10 years, she also made wedding dresses, kept the books for her husband’s business, but most important of all she was a writer and speaker. She wrote and published a cookbook that was meant to bring people together over food. She was active with meditation and even had a group that called themselves the “Woos.” She was a member of the Toastmasters. She also loved gardening and had her own botanical garden surrounding her home.
Lonnie had a beautiful outlook on life. She was an eternal optimist and would always show the power of love. She went out of her way to thank people and be kind. One of the sayings she was known for was, “You are the pebble that starts the ripple.”
She is survived by her husband, Tim; her children, Chris (Leah)D’Antonio, William (Denise) Farr, Michelle (Marcus Thymian) Farr, and Nicole Farr; her grandchildren, Anna, Conor, Michael, John, Sara, Abby, Tyler, and Henry; and her siblings, Robert Martin, James (Jenny Dawson) Martin, and Lester Martin.
