She was one of a kind, amazing, strong, and spoke her mind when she needed to. She must've beat me at every Scrabble, Checkers,  and other games about a million times. To this day, I can still hear her voice singing hymns with him at church. She will always be remembered by those random scents of Sand & Sable; by every Mason jar that's opened from all the canning I'd help her with ("Are you sure we're going to eat all that Grape Jam?".  There's about thirty jars or it in the cabinet starting back at us : "Well, we can always try); the laugh she'd carry when she's watch Mama's Family while pointing to it "those blamed nuts!" in her sweet Kentucky accent. I was introduced to her by my new mom when I was about 7, and she took me in as her own family immediately. "Blood's thicker than water" some would say but that woman kept me afloat by showing me how she makes her cornbread and how she liked to keep her home but also took the time to know me and share her love with me. She invited me in and always asked me why I was leaving so soon even though I could have spent days or weeks with her during summer breaks or random weekends. Every holiday was special to her, especially Christmas since she would spread out her Christmas village and rearrange the town every day until Christmas. She loved her sweets especially jammed filled chocolates, chocolate covered cherries, and the finest of Reece's cups found on sale at "The Walmarts" as she called it: don't correct her or she's tell you that she'd "skin your head". Back in those days, we didn't have smart phones and she would want to be in her Sunday best in front of a camera. There's not a ton of pictures because we lived and enjoyed those moments and usually forgot the camera at home. Always.  She would be there for me even through those pesky teen age years and attend a lot of the half time shows since she relocated from Fairview to Arab in 1997 to be closer to my mom, dad, and me.
