Tammy and I were deeply saddened hear about the loss of SSG Jonathan Lumpkin last year. John was a good guy, with a good heart. Today I was listening to music that reminded me that timeframe in Iraq. God bless you and your family brother. 

Jonathan was a great Soldier and friend. As his supervisor being deployed in Iraq, he dedicated is time to assist me and the rest of our team to be the best we could be. As I learned to become good imagery analyst, in turn, was teaching him the finer points on how to aspire to be a good leader. One thing that I look back that stands out about Jonathan is him playing with his blue Gameboy on deployment. He was very intelligent and loyal. He stood by my side until I learned from him before we went into combat. Jonathan, be at peace, my prayers will be dedicated to you and your family. My sincere condolences go out to the entire Lumpkin family. Jonathan, his brothers and I were friends in high school but lost touch after graduation. We reconnected through social media years later. I regret I was unable to attend and pay my respects in person. My prayers are with the entire family.

I knew Jonathan when he worked at Taco Bell.  He was always full of energy and never wanted anyone to have a bad day!  I have always respected you Jonathan for serving our country and always will.  Rest in Peace Jonathan B. Lumpkin.

I didn't keep in direct touch with Jonathan for a really long time, but be sure--Grandmother always kept me up-to-date on everything he and Justin and Jared were doing.  I am SO PROUD of all he has accomplished and I wish he was still with us.

I had not seen Jonathan since he was a young boy but what I've been told is that he was always kind and loved his girls. Praying for you all!

I first met Jonathan in 1997 at the Cullman, AL Cracker Barrel. I had just started a new job there and he was a grill cook. I remember the first time I noticed him...he was down on the floor belting out Whitney Houston's 'I Will Always Love You'! Oh how he made us laugh! That began a wonderful friendship that had lasted for the next 20 years. We shared many highs and lows together, and he was always such a faithful friend. He was more than a friend...he was family. I will miss you, Jonathan. You will be in my heart forever.

I served with Jonathan while at Ft. Campbell from 2002-2004. We were both in the Imagery department and we became good friends. He was a mentor, my NCO, and at times like an older brother. We went to Iraq together and he always looked out for me whether I knew it or not.  I'll never forget his personality, sense of humor, deep concentration when thinking about something, or his friendship. You will be missed greatly.
