Steele and Larry Duke officiating, with burial in Cullman City Cemetery.
Moss-Service Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Oakley died Wednesday, Nov. 13, at his residence. He was born June
5, 1932, in Morgan County to Robert A. and Sylvia Johnson Oakley. He
served in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict; he also drove a gas
truck for Texaco for 45 years. He was an active member of Faith Baptist
Church and an active deacon for 20 years.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Joseph Madison “Mat”
Oakley; a sister, Othell Miller; a brother, James Thurman Oakley; and
two brothers-in-law, Melvin Miller and Raymond Roper.
Survivors include his wife, JoAnn Howard Oakley; a daughter, Kathy
(Gary) Waddell; three brothers, Joel (Leah) Oakley, Bobby (Emily) Oakley
and Ferris (Lynda) Oakley; a sister, Eunice Roper; a sister-in-law, Sue
Oakley; two grandchildren, Derrick (Chassi) Waddell and Chasity (Trey)
McRae; and two great-grandchildren, Rylan Carter McRae and AnnaLee
Courtney McRae.
Pallbearers will be Donald Shrewsberry, Phillip Garrison, Lowell Hall,
Frank Gingrich, Ralph Marcum and Randy Tucker.
