
Leldon Lee McLemore, 92 of Bridgeport, WV, formerly of Cullman, Alabama, died peacefully at his home on Saturday, August 1, 2015. He was born July 7, 1923, in Lauderdale County, Alabama, the son of the late Odie Lee McLemore and Ruth James McLemore.
He was preceded in death by his loving wife of 62 years, Oma Maizell Davis McLemore, on December 21, 2008.
Left to cherish his memories are his sons, Donny (Sheila) McLemore, David (Ann) McLemore, Michael McLemore and Mark McLemore; his grandchildren, Lisa (Scott) Moyer, Sherri Banta, Jeffrey (Angelica) McLemore, Greg (Heather) McLemore, Jennifer (Jeremy) Duley, Derrick McLemore, Christopher McLemore, Kyle McLemore, Mark McLemore, Anthony McLemore, Tonya McLemore, Brandon McLemore, and Briana McLemore; his great-grandchildren: Janelle (Greg) Vandetta, Landon Moyer, Haylee and Keaton Banta, Mason and Max McLemore, Will, Davis and Dylan McLemore, Brandon McLemore, Aunaleii McLemore and a soon to be great granddaughter, Blakely McLemore and his only great-great grandchild to be born in September, Evalina Mae Vandetta. Three sisters, Betty (John) Williamson, Rosemary Cooper, and Carolyn Powers; three sisters-in-law, Betty Knop McLemore, Dorothy Tyson McLemore, Jo Edytt McLemore, and a host of nieces and nephews complete his family.
In addition to his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by three brothers, James L. McLemore, Odie McLemore Jr., Howard A. McLemore and a sister, Shirley Parker.
Mr. McLemore served in the United States Army from 1943-1945, serving in the Pacific. He fought in the Battle for Iwo Jima, guarding the Marines who raised the US flag. He retired from General Motors in Elyria, Ohio. In his latter years, he resided in Bridgeport, WV, with his granddaughter and grandson. He was an avid gun enthusiast, loved watching baseball, traveling, and reading western novels. "Mac" as he preferred to be called, never met a stranger. He loved his wife and family above all. His sense of humor was enjoyed by all who knew him.

Friends and family will be received at the Moss- Service Funeral Home, 1901 2nd Avenue North West, Cullman, Alabama on Monday, August 10, 2015 from 11 am - 1pm, where services will be conducted at 1p.m. in the Chapel.
