Roger William Grund

He was a 10+ year veteran of the United States Army, retiring with a rank of SSG(P). He drove a logging truck for Hestla logging for 15 years, taking great pride in the cleanliness of his vehicles. His trucker friends knew him by his nickname “River Rat” and in his spare time, he enjoyed rebuilding old trucks, playing with his dog CJ and spending time with his four beloved grandchildren.

He is preceded in death by parents; sisters Betty Grund, Helen Sullivan, and Ruth Grund; and brother Leon Grund.

He is survived by his wife of 45 years, Yvonne Black Grund; daughters Christy (Shannon) Mattox and Melissa (Brad) Charland; brothers George (Sandra) Grund, Paul (Linda) Grund, and Frances (Randy) Nuss; grandchildren DaKota Mattox, Izabella Charland, Ashton Charland, and William “Xander” Charland.

The family will receive friends for visitation on Tuesday, February 27, 2018 from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. The celebration of Mr. Grund’s life will be Wednesday, February 28, 2018 at 12:00 p.m. at Moss Service Funeral Home Chapel with burial to follow at Garden City Cemetery.
