Brien Robert Quetsch, of Laramie, WY passed away on January 26, 2025. He was born on December 2, 1995, to Joe and Debbie Quetsch in Richmond, VA and raised mostly in Culpeper. Brien, with his older sister, Annie, and younger brother, Michael, grew up in a joyful, loving home with many family and friends. Brien particularly cherished his many cousins and counted them among his best friends.
In everything Brien did, from basketball at 8 yrs old to football in middle school to wrestling in high school and his service as a US Marine, he had “more heart than anyone on the field” That was evident to anyone in his presence. Brien’s wrestling teammates from middle to high school were a tight group and were very important to him, even into adulthood.
After high school, Brien joined the U.S. Marine Corps and excelled in operations for his infantry unit, earning The Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal for his tireless efforts as Company Operations Chief. Among his other recognitions, Brien captured the attention of his superiors for his extraordinary hard work and dedication to his Catholic faith in the toughest of times. He served one deployment overseas before separating in 2018 as a Sergeant.
In 2022, Brien and the love of his life, Aubrey, embarked on a great adventure: moving to Laramie, WY in the shadows of the Snowy Range. Brien had fallen in love with Wyoming on one of his trips with his dad and knew he would live there one day. Aubrey and Brien loved to hike the “Snowies” and beyond with their beloved dogs, Ruby and Rosa (the girls) and were engaged at the summit of Medicine Bow Peak and married in 2024. Brien’s passion for the Rockies, his wife, and his girls was always apparent, and he loved to show them off to visiting family and friends.
All who knew him would agree that throughout his too short life, Brien approached any task or challenge with humor, drive, loyalty, devotion and determination that left an indelible mark on this world.
