was born on St. Patrick’s Day 1953. He grew up on the family farm in Culpeper, Virginia and
remained a farm boy at heart. Bryant loved wide open spaces full of sunshine and fresh air. He
indulged in an array of hobbies that involved being outdoors; skateboarding, dirt bikes, flying
kites, radio-controlled planes and model rockets, star gazing, camping, fire arms, and working on
cars to name a few.
Bryant spent his early 20’s working the night shift at a hotel in Ocean City, Maryland. His
favorite part of the job was ending his shift and being able to stumble onto the beach to enjoy
the surf and sand during the day. His love for the beach was equal to his love for the Blue Ridge
Mountains of Virginia and he spent as much time as possible enjoying both places throughout
his life.
Bryant’s greatest joy came from sharing those special places as well as his hobbies with others;
especially his 2 daughters and 5 grandchildren whom he loved dearly. He also leaves behind a
younger brother, younger sister, nieces, nephews, an aunt, and cousins. Preceding him in death
are his mother, father, and youngest brother. Bryant will be deeply missed for his humor,
intellect, willingness to lend a hand, ability to fix anything and wild, fun-loving spirit.
Bryant O’Bannon Smith III’s final resting place will be at the Masonic Cemetery with his beloved
grandfather and grandmother in Culpeper, Virginia.
