
He was Grandpa, Pop Pop and Kicky to Matthew, Steven, Jenny, Alex, Grant, Garrett and Hanna and great grandfather of 6. He is also survived by his sister, Barbara Grissom of Tallahassee, FL. He is predeceased by his brothers Eddie and Joey and his grandson Grant.
Charlie was born November 14, 1935 in Seabrook, MD; but soon move4d to Virginia where he spent all of his life.
He started his professional career in law enforcement with the Fairfax County Police Department. He attended the Northern Virginia Police Academy. Among many others, Charlie received meritorious service awards in the areas of Criminal Justice, Bureau of Narcotics and Dangerous Drugs, International Narcotics Enforcement and Criminal Investigation Division. He retired in 1979. Subsequently, he enjoyed a position at Brinks, securing transportation, cash handling and security services as well as being an Occupational Safety and Health Administration Office while employed by William A. Hazel Construction in Northern Virginia. His love of law enforcement brought him back to Fauquier County Sheriff’s Office where he served admirably for 10 years and, in addition, received many awards while there.
Charlie was a generous friend to all and in his retirement he enjoyed the outdoors, especially working in his yard and garden.
There will be a memorial service at 3:00 p.m. on Wednesday, May 21, 2014 at Clore-English Funeral Home. Interment will be private.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions should be made to the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation
