

Dona is survived by her children, Kathryn Garrett (Mike), Roger Flint (Cheryl), and Julie Francis. Dona also leaves behind her grandchildren, Lauren Garrett, Preston Garrett, and Julianne Francis. She leaves behind one great granddaughter, Mya Offei and her sister Carol Bowman.
Dona was predeceased by her husband Franklin Ford Flint and her parents and a brother, Ivan E. Cook.
Dona attended Lynchburg College where she met her husband. She supported his continuing education to a doctorate from UVA. With her husband’s professorship, as Chairman of the Biology department at Randolph Macon Woman’s College she enjoyed four sabbaticals in California, Portugal, Arlington, VA., and New Mexico.
The highlight of her life besides her children was a trip to Israel and Egypt where she rode a camel and explored Petra and the pyramids.
While living in Lynchburg, Va. Dona was active in First Christian Church, The Lynchburg Garden Club, and Lynchburg’s chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution, where she was a member for over 70 years.
A private memorial service to celebrate her life will be held at a later date.
The family wishes to express their appreciation to the management and staff of The Culpeper for their tireless and dedicated work in caring for Dona the past --13-years. The family also acknowledges the care and support from the Hospice of the Piedmont.
