Ellen Marie Keys of Rochelle, VA, passed away January 11, 2022 at Martha Jefferson Hospital. Born August 28,1950 to James Edward Magner and Pearl Mae Rowland Magner, Ellen was a force of nature and enjoyed a full life .
Ellen enjoyed working as an advertising sales representative for over 25 years and was a proud mother of two strong, independent women, Lindy and Stephanie, and loving grandmother of two special young men, Elijah and Ryley. She enjoyed reading, volunteering, shopping thrift stores, gardening, fishing, swimming and weekends with her sisters.
Surviving Ellen are her two daughters; Lindy K. Wright of Culpeper, VA and Stephanie Golon (Andy) of Madison, VA, two grandchildren; Elijah Wright and Ryley Golon, siblings; Charles Magner, Dorothy Mackey (Roger), James Magner (Brenda), Catharine Dawkins, Mary Bigham and Theresa Magner (Lynn). Additional survivors include many nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 38 years, Steven Scott Keys , her sister Amalda Cody (Jack), and granddaughter Isabella Golon.
The family will hold a celebration of Ellen’s life at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, we are honoring Ellen with contributions to the Madison Senior Center, 1480 N. Main Street, the Literacy Council of Madison, 304 Thrift Road, or the Madison Rescue Squad, 1233 N. Main Street; all are in Madison, VA 22727.
