Evelyn was a very gifted person. She taught a lot of students how to play musical instruments. My parents thought a great deal of her, and they provided a piano so that Evelyn could teach music lessons in our home on Peliso Avenue in Orange. She taught my brother, Jimmy how to play a guitar, my brother, Bobby, how to play a piano, and she taught me how to play a coronet.

Evelyn was also an fine art teacher. She had an art studio in her home, and she had many students.

Evelyn will be remembered for sharing her gifts and blessing so many people.

I learned so much from this beautiful lady! She was my art teacher for 3 years. I remember I would come into her basement where we always had art class every Wendsday and she would always be playing the piano. She also used to give me nutter butters and cream soda every time I came. She told me so many stories about her late husband whome she called "her old Billy goat". You will forever be in my heart Ms.Raper, Rest In Peace and finally be with your old Billy goat!! Thank you so much for everything, I am the artist I am today because of you❤❤❤❤

Many hours enjoyed painting water colors with Evelyn. I did my best work under her scrutiny. A wonderful artist and teacher, and truly kind spirit. I’ll never forget you Evelyn.
